Sherrie has been bringing music, love and joy to the geriatric and senior community for over thirty-five years. Born and raised in Dallas, she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Texas Woman's University in June of 2000.
In addition to her teaching and education background, Sherrie also has training and experience as a Chaplain and Activities Director working with all levels of needs including Memory Care and Hospice. She also uses her talents as a composer and her love of dance to adapt and write songs and create musical activities to support the specific needs of her participants.
Since she was a teen, Sherrie has also been involved in the Jewish community as an entertainer, music teacher, choir director, and leader for services and life-cycle events. Sherrie's passion for working with the elderly began when she was a young girl volunteering at Golden Acres Living and Rehabilitation (formerly the Dallas Home For Jewish Aged) in East Dallas, where she found her heart drawn to providing songs and melodies that touched the hearts of the residents. Twenty five years later, Sherrie would find herself working at this very place that cared for her Grandmother and Great-grandmother, developing her skills as a chaplain and geriatric music specialist.
Sherrie has relocated to Durham, NC and loves spending time with her two adorable grandchildren where she continues to use her music to bring joy to all ages. She currently works at Kehillah Synagogue and during her workweek is also the music teacher for the Kehillah Jewish Preschool.
